Mood Monday: Pitiful & Pampered

Hey everyone. Thursday afternoon, I was drinking tea at work. My co-worker looks at me and says, "what's with the tea? You're not getting sick, are you?" Well that proved to be the kiss of death. Friday, my throat seemed weird all day. Towards the end of the day, my other co-worker says, "if you're gonna get sick, do it on the weekend. Saturday & Sunday only! Monday, you come back to work!" Wouldn't you know soon as I got home Friday, my throat was on fire! I woke up on Saturday feeling like I had secretly swallowed sandpaper in my sleep. If there's one thing I hate, it's being home alone and feeling sickly. It makes me feel so little and pitiful! So I decided to treat myself to a home spa day.

I started off my Saturday with a latte. The reason my foot is next to my latte, is that I was sitting at the edge of my bed doing something I rarely do: watching a soccer game! Chile vs Brazil. Since I was born in Chile, this was a must-watch. Sadly, my team didn't pull through, but they gave Brazil a run for their money! While watching the game, I deep conditioned my hair and used my Origins charcoal mask. Neither of these processes were documented. My sick face was not camera ready!

After rinsing out my hair and face masks, I decided I was ready for a new pedicure. Even though I'd just painted my nails last weekend (with help from Instagram and my friends via text, I chose that bright orange), I had received my first Deborah Lippmann polish recently, and it was begging to be used. I decided to go full-on mermaid treasure chest, and used Milani's Gold Glitz, and Jacqueline by Zoya. I was so happy with the outcome!

Then I ate fajitas and knocked out on the couch until my husband came home! Sunday was the worst day of my life!!!! Thankfully, Sunday is my husband's day off, so he was here with me to make sure I was still breathing. I was so super sick...y'all don't need to know the details. But when I woke up today, the first thing I said was, "babe...I made it!" I seriously thought I was dying. Lol.

FOTD: Orange is the New Black Pt. 1

I'm beyond obsessed with the show Orange is the New Black.  I started watching the first season when it came out because I was bored. And the next day, I had finished the entire season. The second season just came out and obviously, I'm already done watching it. I've been thinking...what am I gonna do until next season!? Then it hit me. Fill the void with makeup. So here is my first look in the series:

Crease: Orange Soda from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lavish Palette
Lid: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Fierce & Tangy as base, topped with Flame Point by Sugarpill.
Inner corner highlight: Fire Opal from Bare Minerals (Not sure if this is still available).
Lower lash line: Flame Point, blended out with Orange Soda.
Water line: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in Rockstar.
Lashes: Bare Minerals High Definition Mascara.
Liner: Benefit They're Real! Push Up Liner (AWESOME, by the way!)

And not that you can tell, but my brows are Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Ebony. Stay tuned for more looks inspired by Orange is the New Black! I'll try not to include any spoilers, but I would encourage you to finish season 2 ASAP, just in case I spill some secrets ;)

Mood Mondays: Grateful

I grew up with a fairly tiny that has gotten smaller over time. Seems a little backwards, but we're shrinking! Those of us left at the core have become closer through the years. I can say that even though we had our share of issues, we are closer now than ever.

Being from a tiny family, my brain went into shock when I married into my husband's mega huge family! I still don't understand how so many people can be related to each other! Lol. His family is enormous, and they have all been very welcoming to me. A few of the cousins were in town over the weekend, and we got to visit with them.

Any time he or I have family in town, it's such a treat. I always hear about people not getting along with their in-laws, and I'm such a lucky girl, because I don't know what that's like! I'm so grateful to not only be part of a family that loves me and my sweet hubbs, but to have married into a family that has treated me like one of their own from day one. And the fact that they all come visit us often is an added bonus!

Hey everyone! I've been a terrible blogger lately, and I feel so rotten about it. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things now, so hopefully you will be seeing me regularly not only on my own blog, but in a comment section near you! I miss all my blogger friends and even though I keep in touch with a few of you on Instagram, it's just not the same. (p.s. If I haven't found you on Instagram yet, come find me: @cellapaz) Onto what you all came here to current mani:

I've been rather subdued lately, with either dark or nude manis. So I decided to go super bright this time. As usual, this is gel and I don't know the color. But I know China Glaze and Sinful Colors have similar (if not identical) shades. It's so perfect for summer! I'm loving my highlighter mani so far!

Ipsy Glam Bag (With Video): June 2014

Did I just type JUNE?! Good lord, time flies. And spoiler alert, this month's bag is probably one of my favorites EVER. The bag itself, not so much. Looks like a Tommy Bahama reject.

My husband and I have this deal worked out where he will never shop at Tommy Bahama, and I will never shop at Chico's. But that's neither here nor there. Because what's inside the bag this month is soooo good!!

  • NYX Butter Gloss in Eclair (swatched below): This is something I've been wanting to try for such a long time, so I was thrilled to receive it. The texture is so creamy, it smells amazing, and it's really pretty. It's very sheer, so I definitely wouldn't wear it on its own, but it'll be a great addition over some lipsticks I already own.

  • Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray: Everyone knows how much I love my Not Your Mother's Beach Babe I am both excited and nervous to try this stuff. I definitely do want to give it a fair try, and will probably be posting a full review after I've had a chance to use it a few times.
  • Nicka K Shimmer Liner in Green (swatched below): This is really pretty, but I may or may not use it. And here's why. After I swatched it on my hand, I discovered it is nearly impossible to remove! I did use just a regular makeup wipe, but I scrubbed and scrubbed, and I don't think my hand will ever be the same. I totally spaced on trying my Lush Ultrabland cleanser to remove it. So I'll have to try that sometime and see what happens. If it works, I will use this liner to DEATH, because it's just beautiful!

  • Be A Bombshell Mascara in Lash Out: This comes at a perfect time, because I just started to clean out my mascara drawer (it's just a Muji's not that serious). I've been realizing that a lot of my older mascaras are just past their prime and I've been holding on to a dream, trying to re-live the excitement of when they were brand new and not dried out. But it's time to let go. So getting a new mascara was at the very top of my to-do list, and now I don't even have to do it anymore! Score! The brush looks pretty basic, but I will give it a shot and let ya know what I think!

  • Derma Doctor DD Cream (swatched below): No shade on this one, as the packaging says it's supposed to be self-adjusting. I never believe those claims, but I'm going to try this anyway. I've been using BB and CC creams instead of the regular foundation for my daytime face lately. That may not seem like a big deal to you, but it's a big deal for my face. So even though  I'm a little skeptical on this one, I'm going to use it.
Nicka K Shimmer Liner
NYX Butter Gloss
Derma Doctor DD Cream

And that's it! I know I'll use all of these items quite a bit. Unless they make my hair fall out or my skin permanently green. Then I'll only use them once.

Mood Mondays: (un) Inspired

Hey everyone! I was so excited to open my email the other day and find a sweet invitation to join the Mood Mondays post from my beautiful blogger friend Vero, of Vero Says. Hopefully I'll be able to link up successfully, but if I can't figure it out by this time tomorrow...just pretend for me. I'm not smart at things like buttons and link ups.

ANYWAY...I've been having a lot of moods lately. So this is perfect for me. One of the most imposing moods in my life has been "uninspired." You may or may not have noticed, but my blog has been very unbloggy lately. Even my YouTube videos feel ruttish. Yes, I'm making up words, but only because no one has made better words to describe these things yet. When I was filming my latest YT video, I started feeling like all my videos lately are either Ipsy unbaggings or Favorites/Unfavorites. Every time I sit down to film something else, it ends up being a borderline disaster and I scrap the whole thing. My blog has taken a back seat in life lately. I don't know why...I definitely have the time. I just don't have the inspiration lately.

At first, I thought...This will give me something to write about every week, so at least I'll be posting. Then I realized, this is actually giving my inspiration a little boost! I no longer see it as a way to get a blog post out of the way. I see it as an opportunity to share a little about myself in between all the beauty blogging/vlogging. So a big thanks to Vero for turning my un-inspiration into a major inspiration! Sometimes, you just need a little push to turn your mood around. Sometimes, it's as simple as opening your email in the morning. You never know what someone else is going through in their life. Weather it's a true bad day or just a little funk, sometimes just being kind in a seemingly small way can make a big impact.

Product Review: Poshinality Nail Polish in Charismatic

Hey everyone! I'm sure you've probably seen Poshinality nail polishes floating around the blogosphere lately. I know I have been seeing them more and more, so I'm super excited to bring you this review, as they were gracious enough to send me a bottle to try out. The color I received is called Charismatic...I think the best way I can describe it is a taupey-silver.

Compiled from images on

The Pros:
  • The color payoff is amazing. I used two coats but you could get away with one if you were pressed for time.
  • You guys know I love little brands like this, especially when they're high quality. Plus they're from Los Angeles, my home town...can't go wrong! ;)
  • Great shade range. The ones I've got my eye on to try next are Tomboy, Animated, Urbane, Hipster, and Mysterious...just to name a few!
Don't mind the application. This is a prime example
of why I usually pay to get my nails done.

The Cons:
  • At $11 a bottle, I will just have to pace myself on buying these. They're not ridiculously expensive, but I think even a dollar less would be a better price point.
  • The one thing I would love, is if they had a poshinality quiz on their website...Kind of like with Ipsy. I just think that would be super cute, and would tie it all in a little better. I'd love to see what color polish they would say I am.
With a matte top coat.

The Verdict:
Like I said, I've already got my eye on a few others. So obviously I like them. Charming isn't a color I would've picked for myself, so I was surprised at how much I like it. It goes on so pretty...almost looks like liquid mercury, even when it's dry. I don't know if there's some kind of voodoo in the brush, but it really seemed to hug my nail and make the polish apply so evenly. I can't wait to try more!

If you guys end up trying these, feel free to link your posts below...I'd love to see which Poshinality shade suits you!

Favorites & Unfavorites (With Video): May 2014

It's that time again! May was a weird month for seemed to go by so slowly, but looking back on it, I can't believe a month has passed since my last favorites! I was actually on a partial no-buy for May and the end of April. I purchased the NYX Macaron lipsticks on April 26th and instituted a no-buy until Allluring Aquatic came out. Since I purchased a couple things right before my no-buy and I did buy a few goodies during Alluring Aquatic, I still have some things to share :) If you want to see the video, it's way down at the bottom of the post!

  • NYX Cosmetics Macaron Lipsticks in Violet, Black Sesame, and Chambord: Of the entire collection, these three were my absolute favorites. Violet is the most wearable out of all of them. At least...for those of us who consider bright purple lipstick to be wearable. Black Sesame is a grey, which I know is not for everyone, but I love it. And Chambord is black. I've never had a black lipstick that went on so nicely! I just love the formula on these three. You would think the entire collection has the same formula, but that is not so! I'll get into that later.
  • MAC Cosmetics Extra Dimension Bronzer in Delphic: Holy moly, this is so pretty! I asked my friend for advice on this one and he recommended Delphic vs the other bronzer in the collection. I'm so glad I got it!! It just gives a beautiful warmth to the face. It's not highly pigmented, but I still love it.
  • MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Enchanted One: You guys may or may not know that I've been on a mission to find the perfect nude...THIS IS THE NUDE LIPSTICK I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR MY WHOLE LIFE! gorgeous. Very reminiscent of Kylie Jenner's pretty nude lipstick she's been rocking lately.
  • MAC Cosmetics Lip Gloss in Peachstock: In the video, I do mention that I wasn't sure if this is a permanent item, because I know I've seen the name and wanted to buy it. I just researched it on and discovered that the lipstick is permanent, but not the gloss. So if you missed out on this collection, try the lipstick! It's soooooo pretty. It's a beautiful peachy nude. Goes perfect over Enchanted One. I'm in love! I'll talk about the rest of Alluring Aquatic in a MAC collective haul post coming up soon!

  • Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser: I hate it. Everyone raves about it, which should have been my first clue to not purchase it. But I'm a sucker so I did it. I just hate the texture. It settles like crazy into my lines. I didn't know how many wrinkles I had, but now I can count each one and I've started to name them. It's ridiculous. I keep trying to use it, but it really should just go in the garbage.
  • NYX Cosmetics Macaron Lipsticks in Orange Blossom and Citron: These aren't extreme unfavorites, they're more like disappointments. The texture and pigmentation of the ones on my favorites list was perfect. These two are chalky and settle into every little crack on my lips. They just don't look great up close. I can work with them a little, but I wish they were more like the other ones.
